Connecting San Antonio: South Leon Creek Greenway Opens

Residents near Rodriguez County Park and Wolff Stadium can now jump on their bikes or hike along a new two-mile trail called the South Leon Creek Greenway.

District 6 City Councilman Ray Lopez said the $2.6 million addition the city’s greenway system is another way for San Antonians to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

"It’s going to give our folks an opportunity to come out here and exercise," Lopez said. "As you know, San Antonio has been notorious for making a very bad list about being unhealthy."

Researchers Question Use Of MRIs For Breast Cancer Surgery

Researchers from around the world gathered in San Antonio this week for the 2012 Breast Cancer Symposium.

One of the hot topics under discussion this year is the use of MRIs before surgery to decide who might be a candidate for a partial mastectomy versus a total mastectomy.

Dr. Ismail Jatoi of the UT Health Science Center said that historically, those decisions have been based on mammograms, ultra-sound and clinical examination.

Making Life A Little Easier For Children With A Chronic Condition

Children who are born with chronic illnesses like heart disease go through life visiting doctors and other specialists, and for these children and their families, day to day life can be draining.

Six-year-old Daniel Adair was born with congenital heart disease, a condition he will live with for the rest of his life. With the help of cardiologists and additional surgeries, Daniel will live a long fulfilling life, but this isn't the case for everyone.
