Online ER Check-In Means Faster Wait Times At SW General Hospital

Patients needing emergency room care with conditions that are not life threatening can now check in online at Southwest General Hospital. If the emergency is life-threatening, the patient will still need to rush to a hospital.

Southwest General Marketing Director Elizabeth Luna said a patients with lesser but still urgent needs would likely be placed in line at the hospital, but instead can wait at home instead of in a chair in the hospital waiting room.

Driver's License Mega Center May Reduce Wait Times

Most of us have had or know someone who’s had the experience of standing in a long line – sometimes up to two hours – to apply for a new driver’s license or take a new photo.

Now, officials at the Texas Department of Public Safety are promising shorter lines for those and other services at their new "Mega Center" in Leon Valley, which opened on Friday, January 18.

The DPS Driver’s License Mega Center is the state’s answer to long lines in six locations, including Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, two in Houston, and San Antonio.

Travelers Can Speed Through San Antonio Airport With Global Entry

San Antonio International Airport is now an enrollment site for Global Entry, which allows passengers from international flights to be processed through Customs faster. 

The new, one-stop service opened January 11.

San Antonio got the designation from U.S. Customs and Border Protection after its Global Entry kiosks installed last August were a hit.

Latino Activists Celebrate At Inauguration, Expect Immigration Reform

The Presidential Inauguration is Monday and Washington D.C. is ready for the massive celebration.

Also celebrating will be San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, and many other Latino celebrities, public officials and community leaders who worked on the Obama campaign. People who now hope to be rewarded with comprehensive immigration reform.

The Latino Inaugural Ball will be more like a star-studded extravaganza concert at the Kennedy Center and hosted by star Eva Longoria. Mark Anthony is performing, Jose Feliciano will jam and Rita Moreno will entertain.
