Republican Candidate Tom Pauken Drops Out Of 2014 Governor’s Race

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Pauken has announced he is dropping out of the 2014 governor’s race.

In letter sent to donors, the former Texas GOP Chairman Tom Pauken writes:

"The filing deadline is only days away, and I needed to be realistic about our prospects."

The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise to professor Jim Henson, who heads up the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin.

Corrected: Two More Candidates Added To Race For Governor

When Glass ran for governor in 2010, she also did so on the Libertarian ticket. Abbott Reverses Stance On American Airlines Merger, Pauken Pounces

In what was a rare move, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott initially teamed up with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to oppose the merger involving Fort Worth-based American Airlines, but he has now reversed course.

Abbot’s said the new deal with American Airlines and U.S. Airways satisfies his concern that the merger would negatively impact services to some of Texas’ smaller airports.

Abbott Continues To Dodge Pauken Request For Debate

Republican Tom Pauken continues to issue a debate challenge to fellow gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott, but the attorney general has not even acknowledged Pauken as a candidate.

Abbott publicly announced his candidacy for the governor’s race one month ago, but even before he had made this announcement, Pauken had issued a challenge for a public debate.
